This is, we understand, the outcome of numerous solicitations from his supporters, and of a meeting held on Saturday opening, at which the Mayoralty whs discussed. Mr Brooking, although not officially annnuoced, has, we are informed, d finitely decided to contest the Mayoralty. For Councillors there is certain to be a number of new candidates, as Messrs Brooking, Tisch, Stobr and Webstfr are stated as not being candidates. Mr Oonnett, alsi, it is stated, will con»e j t the Centrnl Wircf, and not be ft andidate for the Ejs f e n W h 'ving disposed of his property in that Ward. Meiers Alexander and Edmund* are stated to be intending candidates. Messrs Barry, C'oik and Furlong ate also being urged to offer their services. " New Chum " writer asking if Mr W. A. Oollis is not the senior member of the Council, ar.d if so, FuggriWris: he should be asked to allow himself to be nominated as Mayor. Mr Wood is spoken of as a candidate for the East Ward.
