AH AUSTRALIAN SWEEPING BTATKMBNTB. Received 23,1P.37 p.m. Lohikh, April 23. Professor Wood, of the Sydney TJcivareity, and preudeftt ef New South rn'i-War League, in an article published in tbe Manchester Guardian, states thnt a very gmat minority of Anstialians are oppved to the war, chiefly coos's'incr af Irish residents, tVe Labour Party, and rouseabou's. He adds that racial unity and a profundity of igno ance are tbe real causes of the war. One of the chief reasons for Australia's support, he alleges, is that tbe colonies cessider their help is a good investment and a good advertisement. A frw volunteers were inspired by a spirit of ■elf sacrifice, but most were actuated by sheer love of adventure and a desire to escape the monotony of bu*h life.
