The Military F> wrd is inquiring into sensational incidents at the recent Saturday afternoon manoeuvres. 11l feeling existed between sections of infantry and a corps of field artillery. A portion of the battery came into collision with the infantry. An officer in nharga of the infantry ordered them to fix bayonets to prevent the Brtillery takingtheir ground. A licrse attached to the batiery was wounded before the charge was stopped. Ins general manager of the Pacific Cable Company returns to Melbourne on the 4th to confer with the Federal Postmaster- on the question of rates on the Hew Zealand section of the cable. The present Federal Government has no intention of cutting rates against the Eastern Extension Company. Senders will be allowed to choose the route for messages. Adelaide, April 2. The Premier declares the Government policy for the eloct'on to-night. It is undfrst'O'l that in view of the unfavourable turn the finances have taken the Government will urge the n r csssity of additional taxation. Generally, tbe policy will be one of strict national economy. Bbisbanb, April 2.
