FOOTBALL.

STAR FOOTBALL CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Star Football Club was held at the Red House Hotel on Wednesday evening. There was a large attendance, and Mr A. Humphries was voted to the chair, and apologised for the absence of the president, Mr E. Dockriil, who was unable to attend. The Secretary read the annual report, which congratulated the club on the very satisfactory position of the finances, which was largely due to the assistance rendered by the club's lady supporters. The seniors nuufte a big bid for the championship of the Northern Division, being only onepoint behind. They had suffered one defevt, drew one match, and won all tbe o hers. The First Juniors were also runners up for the Northern Division, and the Second Juniors won the third, cup easily. The annual ball, held in September, was well patronised, and much appreciated' by tbe guests—the Auckland representative team. Special reference was made to the bazaar, wljich had been admirably carried out; by a strong ladies' committee, to whom the club was greatly indebted. The committee had made strong efforts dur ing the past year to obtain a ground, with the result that the Borough Council had set apart a portion of the Racecourse reserve for tbe club's usi. The committee regretted that through the action of thu Recreation Grounds Board, the Star Club had been unable this year to hold its usual sports gathering. In relinquishing office the committee desired to tender their thanks to all who Siad ho readily assisted during the season, and especially the Press. Tha thanks of the club were also due to Mr F. jßicbards for allowing the use of his grounds on the Avenue-road. The election of office-bearers resulted President, Mr E. Dockriil; vice-pre'identp, Drs lieatham and Home, Hon, W. T. Jennings, M.LO., Messrs E.. M. Smith, M.H.R., A. G. Bishop, E. Buckthought, D. O'Brien, G Tisch, C. Clarke, R. Humphries; hon. secretary an 3 treasurer, Mr H. Mace; delegates (senior) F. T. Bellringer, (jm.iot) A. Humphries; management cmnmitte", Messrs E. L. Hum pries, J. Elliot, A. Tlurnphri's, F. T, Bellritjg<>r, 0. 1!. Lever; selection committ-'o (senios) Mr T. Carfer, with the cap'ain and vice-captain; (juniors) to be elected later. The subscription was fixed at 2s 6d for playing members, and as for honorary members. Twenty-nine rew members weri' elected. The first practice wasfixed.for Thursday, 10th inst, at the Avenue-road ground. Mrs. Dockriil, on bfhalf of the ladies' bazaar committee, wrote suggesting that the proceeds of the late bazaar, £SB, be pit aside in the names of two members of the club, for use in improving whatever grounds the club finally decides upon. The wishes of th» ladies will be acceied to, and the president and secretary were appointed trustees. Mr. Elliott intimated that he would eive a prize to the member who attends most practices during the current year. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the local Press for tha support accorded during the past year. Special reference was made to the services rendered by Messrs. F. Richards, R. A. Gillespie and C. B. Lever, the latter of whom was relinquishing the secretaryship owing to pressure of other business, and all were elected life members of the club.

The usual compliment; to the ciair terminated the meeting.
