OBITUARY.
DEATH OF MRS. THOS. HODDER.
Anothek very old colonist passed away on Easter morn in the person of Mrs. Thomas Hodder, Although comparatively little known in New Plymouth, the deceased lady has borne her share of the burdens of colonisation and will be remembered by many old Ta-anakl settlers who took refuge in Nelson in the days of the war. She was bern at, Weymouth, Dorchester, England, and! came to the colony in 1854 with herj husband and one child, new Mrs. J. 6. j Harkness, of Tariki, in the barque Ashmore, after a long and very rough passage of five months, and settled in Nelsoa at Eichmond. In 1875 with her husband she visited the Old Country and on returning to New Zealand Mr. Jf odder settled in Canterbury for some four or five years. They then returned to Eichmond where they remained till 1893, when the family removed to Stratford. Some faur years ago Mrs Hodder became a confirmed invalid and some twelve menths ago Mr. Hodder sold out his Stratford business and came inte New Plymouth. A few days ago her illness assured a serious turn and she passed away at 2.30 a.m. on Easter Day at the ripe age of 76. She leaves a husband, three sons, five daughters, and 27 grand children to mourn her loss. Prior to his illness, she took an active interest in the welfare of those around hbr and was very highly esteemed. For several years she was president of the W.C.T.U. | and a member of the Ambulance ( Society at Stratford. J
