TO READ AT LEISURE.

The " Encyclopaedia Britannica" has not as yet been used to any great extent as a book in which to read at. leisure, and for the sufficient reisoo that it has never heretofore become a household possession. It's former high price qute it quite out of reach. Even the least frequented club or library is ill-adapted for the comfort-able absorption of knowledge.' But with the " Encyclopse iia Britarnica" on the shelves, at home in the corner by the fire, a slippered progrcss through its volumes is a fuller means of instruction than any othfr reading can afford. It invitee you lo fo'low, and fol'ow at your own pace, the expositions of such a faculty of lecturers as no student has evor been privileged to hear. Statesmen and soldiers deal with history thai: they are miking ; the arts and industries are taught by craftsm-m ; in every field of human interest tbe subjects are . treated by the most eminent authorities of the age. Every subscriber to the " Eicyclofaedia Brit mnic i " will receive without cost, an extra (26th) volume of nearly 250 pages, giving hundreds of suggestions for coursf s of reading upon almost, every imaginable topic, making the " Encyclopaedia" available for every member of the family who can read. This " Handbook of Systematic Readings " has just been prepared at a great expense, aed required the combined labours of three eminent professors four years to prepare.
