INGLEWOOD NEWS.
♦ (fuom our own correspondent). I regret h'tviog to record that Mr Hampton died .suddenly on Thursday afternoon at his daughter's (Mrs T. BridgeinauV) house on the Durham- j road. Decetsed was a very eld and' respecred resident of Taranaki, and on. the morning before his de\th was seemingly enjoying very good health. Mr H. Peters has just leturned from a trip on the Continent. In conversation with him yesterday regarding the sights he has seen, ha expressed himself perfectly disgusted with the ignorance of the majority of Continental people regarding the colonies. He had a very lively experience while travelling through Belgium ; but as he is well known round this district, I will not rob him of the pleasure of telling to old friends the cream of his adventures. \ There was a. fair exodus of local residents on Thursday to see the n'bted j i New Plymouth Agricultural Show, the |' consensus of upiuiounmou« them beirgf that the show, as a whoh, was very in- j, Iferior to the other shows along the) ■ coast. j i
