AN "UNPATRIOTIC' SCHOOLMASTER. PJ£U TRESS ASSOCIATION Aucklakd, November 27. S'jme months ago the Education Board was informed by the Kihibihi School Committee that Mr J. B. Murray, headmaster, bad failed to [Comply with the wishes of the com- ! mittee that he should instruct the children in Siluting the flag. After some correspondence, the Board informed Murray that ho must either tf>ach the children to salute the Aug or else resign. The eommit'ej alleged tba' the headmaster's unpatriotic conduct had caused ill-feeling in the district Murray denied this his onduct' i was unpatriotic, and stated that he could not personally salute any flag »s he would a human being. It was against his conscience. Tae matter was considered by thu Board today, wheu the Oh'iiranu movil that Murray be given three motions'noticj of dismissal. The motion was carried by fiv« to two.
