RAILWAY LABOUR TROUBLES.
STRIKE AT STRATFORD. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Stkatford, November 22. A strike bns occurred on the TokoStratford line. About 70 men have thrown down their tools. They have been employed at 8s a day, but now demand an increase to 9s. They marched iu a body through the town of Stratford to the office of Mr. Furkert, engiueer-in-charge, and made a final demand, which the department would not accede to. Fresh ine-i are to be' engaged. j
[From our own Corrospondont.j Stkatfoud, November 22. A strike for an iucrease of pay oacurred to-day among the men employed on the Toko railway works. Tho men have some exi use for tlwir action, aB, since the new system of two shifts a day started, their hours of work hive been somewhat inconvenient. At the' time of writing, I understand that some of the mon have agreed to resume work at the original rate. I hope the matter will bs amicably arranged as a hitch for even a lew days would c.iuse graat inconvenience.
