Sir Henry Berkeley, of Fiji, had a lengthy interview with Mr Birton of a private character. The Council has passed the Money! Lenders Bill, which defines a money] lender as a person who lends at a rate exceeding 15 per cent. I Parliament has adopted the Government resolutions providing for control of New Guinea. The Sa'e Assembly rejected the proposal t3 fix the minimum wage of Government employees at seven shillings a day. The duty on manufactured and unmanufactured tobacco has been reduced by threepence, despite Government opposition. Received 22, 0.48 a.m. Sydney, November 21. The man Pike bas recovered from the tffdcte of shooting himself in the police cells. He was charged with attempted suicide, and a nominal santence of a few hoars imprisonment was imposed.
