NEW ZEALAND'S DRINK BILL.
PBK PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, November 21The table of New Zealand's annual drink bill, compiled by Rev Edward Walker, and published in the loc*l papers, gives the figures since the last return, issded in 1896 The total amount has increased in the four intervening years from .£2,265,900 to £2,747,170, and from £2 19a s£d to £3 8s 4£d per head cf population. Mr Walker attributes the increase to continued general prosperity, and the effects inseparable from a period of war.
