ME PBXSB ABBOOUTICW. Chbistchphoh, November 11 At the Supreme Court criminal sittings, Stanley Dales, for burglary at Kiiapoi, was sentenced to eighteen months, W. L. Batt was found " Not guilty" of horse stealing. Oarl Tritt pleaded guilty to a o mmon assault on his wife, Elizibeth Tritfc, bat not guilty to her manslaughter, at Kaiapoi, en October 25. Evidence for the proeeotetion was to the effect that the woottn had been so severely beaten whh a heavy harnees kicking (trap the resultant being internal injuries wbioh. caused ber death, and the lirMrel testimony this out. Two of aooused saw their father beat their mother with the kioking-steap. He I asked the lads to say he wed only kitf hands and a light strap, He wee een» I teccad to one year for the anault and seven years for manslaughter, the sentenow to be cumulative. In tbe Ariadne case, Mr Stringer, Grown prosecutor, will apply to have the trial fixed for Deoember 17 next, in order that a number ef sea-faring witnesses may be brought to New Zealand.
