PHILHARMONIC CONCERTS.
Sib.—Some time ago the New Plymouth Philharmonic Society gave one of their concerts, a few days afterwards a " critic " signing himself " Clarion " came forward with a long criticism on the performance, starting at the orchestra, pointing out the d<tfeots, telling us what inst> umtnts w«re required to produc* the desired effect etc, Now time oomes round for the next ooncert, a fresh orchestra with drums, horn, 'cello and other effect producers that would render everything correctly, and not keep the metronome waiting. This concert c*me off about a month ago. As a constant reader of the Daily News, X have been watchling patiently day after day, thinking that " Clarion," of course, would let us have his notes on this performance, but no—for sqme reason or other he is not having any. Now then Clarion, in fairneae, com t to light, let us have your views on the last concert, and then we cm see if you are a fair critic, or whether it is a oase of "We." Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., Rbvbnge.
