ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, November 11. Mre Smith, an inmate of Porirua Asylum, escaped from the institution yes »<i .1 iv, and her body was found this morning in the dam at the back of the asylum. I Dunedin, November 11. Perry's death was caused by foiling | over the bannisters in some unaccount-1 able means. He fell on the back of his head on the flagging below, and remained unconscious till 2.30 yeaterdoy morning, when he died. He was 63 years old. At the inquest on John Perry, who fell down stairs at the Commercial Hotel, the evidence showed deceased to be an abstemious man. After sitting down for some time, talking business he appeared to have lost the use of his legs, and when he tried to get up he fell. As he expressed a desire 1 to go upstairs, the licensee instructed a waiter to go with him. He was for some time in the parlour, and the next he heard of him was bis fall down stairs. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone.
