VOLUNTEERS.

At a meeting of non-commissioned officers of the Rifles and Guards, held on Monday evening, an interesting lecture was given on " the company in attack," by Lieutenant Cook, of the Guards, who hr 3 just returned from tho military school of instruction at Wellington. The question of a parade on the 11th prox. was discussed, and in view of tbe failure of the parade at Hawera, it was decided to endeavour to have a fieldday for the local companies. The hop* was expressed that the Waitara men might be able to participate. Members of the Rifles are requested to attend at the Drill Shed on Thursday evening to receive their helmets.
