CHARGE OF WIFE MURDER.
PER TRESS ASSOCIATION Ohristohurch, October 27. A woman named E izabeth Tritt, wife , of (Jarl Tritt;, a labourer, died at Kaia- | poi on Friday last, under circumstances j which caused the two doctors attending jto refuse to give a certificate. The ,pslice .were communicated with, and an inquest opeoed on the body last j night, before Dr. McArthur, coroner, | add after several witnesses had b«ea examined, was adjourned until Tuesday. ■ Immediately afierwards Tritt was arrested on a charge of murder, and taken before Dr. McArthur and remaned till after the close of the inquest. From the evidence taken it app arß that Tritt was a widower withihr.ej , son*, the eldest 14 years of tige, He 1 married his (second wife, who was a Miss Mcßeth, of Kir wee, at Oxford in January last. She confessed to her [ husband that he was not the father of her child. Before Mrs. Tritt's death [ she told neighbours that bruises on her body were caused by her husband beating her with a he ivy strap, and the two doctors who made a ppst mprtem examination agree that injuries which could have, been indicted in that way were the cause of death, The post mortem revealed extensive internal injuries.
