According to Admiral Beaumont: j Australians are not yot a seafaring peoplp. There was no difficulty in the way of young Australians entering the Navy, but applications were very few, possibly because Australians saw their way to more profitable careers. It did not come natural to natives of a warm climate to follow the sea ; but the sealoving spirit of the English speaking people might assert itself later. The Rifle Championship resulted in a tie between Lake (South Australia) and Carter (Victoria), with a 6core of 258. In the shoot-off Carter won by 13 points to 11 W. The hffkir biffled the police. A similar case has occured at Queanbeyan, where a man named Campbell has ben arrested. He is believed to be identical with the man wanted in Sydney.
