GENERAL SIR HECTOR MACDONALD.
ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION IN THK SOOTH. PES PRtMB ASSOCIATION, Dunedin, October 25. General Sir Hector Mac Donald had a most enthusiastic reception all along the railway line from Invercargill, which culminated, at Dunedin, in the turn-out of a crowd not very far short of that on the occasion of the Royal visit. On hid arrival the General was welcomed by the Mayor (Mr. Denniston). He then inspapt-d the Highland Rid s, the Pipi B.iud, and a number of vateian*, who were drawn up on the platform. As s'on ai he app iiirad in the open and stepped in a carriage which was wni ing t here was; an outburst of hearty cheering. In a few srcotids tha horee-i were tiken out of the carriage and topes attached to it by the Highland who drew the carriage, with the G neral and the Mayor, nil t he w.iy to the F'rnLill Club, through crowds of cheering spectator, who w<>ra able to get a good view of the distinguished visitor.
