WOMEN'S CLAIM TOR EQUAL PAX At a meeting of the Wanganui i Women's League on Saturday there j was a large and representative attend: atce of women teachers present, by invitation, to discuss the report of the Teachers' Salaries Commission. A resolution was passed declaring that any colonial ecole which did not recognise the principle of equal pay for equal work, irrespective of sex, is unjust, and inflicts a greit wrong. It was decided that the higher positions in public schools should be open freely to women who are capable of filling them. At the cl se of the discussion it was agreed to form a Women's Teachers' Association, and Miss Fraser consented to fill the office of president pro tern, as she considered a publio school teacher flhould fill that position. A largely signed petition, embodying the views of the women teaohers as expressed above, and oriticising part of the Commission's report, is to be forwardrd for presentation to both Houses.
