Born in 1845, he came out t:> Australia when 16 years i f ape, and was rngiged in pastoral pursuits in the back blocks of Victoria and New South Wales, He came to this colony in 1870, and entered Parliament in 1884. MR. A. J. BURNS. | Donedin, September 15. Mr, A J. Burns, a well-known citisen, died suddenly this morninp. He was a son of the late Rev. Dr. Burns, the Aaron of the Oteg • settlement, aod a descendant of the Scottish poet. Be was the promoter of the Stosgiel Woollen Factory, which was afterwards taken over by the company, of which he baa been a director ever since.
