MARSLAND HILL.
TO THE EDITOB. j Sir. a comparative stranger in your pa> t=i, allow me to expression i to my thoughts about a matter that I , believe is of vary great importance to I vnir very pretty surroundings it New Plymouth. On« of the attractions always will be your lovely and enchanting R?crea r ion Ground?, tho delieht of all visitors wh r > hwe an eye for the beautiful. Bu*, [ have thought, why nrt further aid to the r fraction of the town by improving Marsland Kill, from which a finer view is not to l>fl had in New Zeil«nd. W.'th a very Utile expense, it nrght be mide also b»antifnl, and a plsc<* rf resort for visitors. Niture has bien lavish in putting such into your hands. But few, if any towns in New Zoahnd have such placps so rare nf access. A hettfr approach is wan ted, the pathway improved, some fresh aud better The planting of some shrubs would make tho hill perfection, but it miy be monoy is not available for such improvement". Then my suggestion would be that the young men, fay 20 or 30 of them, should volunteer for one or two Thursday aftercoona, aud with and shovel they would revolutionise the place, and I believe some of the ladi<s of the place would do their share by providing afternoon tfa for tbem, and if our st i)wart young fellow? would put forth their athletic enersy in that direction, they would be nmply rfpnd by tho pleasure uflorded to the present and future generation.—lam, etc., Observer.
