PER PRESS A9SOOIATJON. Westpobt, A'igu?t 25. The Hon. James Kerr, who suffered from a severe attack of bronchial asthma whi'e on hi? way to Greymouth on Tuesday last, and was detained at Westport, pass d away at the residence of Mrs. Hugh's at 4.20 this morning. Mrs. Kerr and Mr. Junes KeT, son of dese»sed, ware present at; the time death took place. D was unconscious for several hours before the end came. He wan a pioneer of the Wf st Coast, being the found j r of the Kumara Times, part proprietor of the Grey Argus, and a prominent figure in Ileal politics. At various periods he was member and chairman of the Westland Education Board, Greymouth Harbour Board, member of the Borough Council, etc. The body will bg taken to Ureym'Uith this morning.
