A DREDGING CASE.
PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION. Duneddt, August 20. A case, in which great interest was taken by all connected with dredging, was concluded in the Supreme Court to-day, after extending over three d-tys. The case was Cutten Brothets, cocsulting engineers, v. the Globe Gold Dredging Company, to recover £ll3 8s 6d commission, to which a counter cl»im was put in. Outten Brothers had bain engaged to prepare plans for the removal sLd re-erection of a current! wheel. The dredge was afterwards converted into a steam dredge, and moved from the Molyneux to Waikaka. The counter claim was for alleged negligence on the part of j plaintiffs, whereby dtfendints suffered to the ex'entof £450, which sum was] claimed as a set-off. The alleged neg I ligence included delay in preparing; plans, by which time was lost; want of j proper supervision, and not including various things in specifications. It was stated, but not proved, daring the case that the engineers refused to give evidence for the defendants. The jury pave a verdict for the Globe Oampany in the claim and counter claim, also giving £5 damages. In the latter case judgment was entered np with cos's, but execution was stayed for ten days in order to move for a new trial, on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of evidence.
