We understand there will be an inquiry beld. In regard to this fire we must again pciot out. the culpable neglett of the Council in not having the firfebell re-erected. The brigado, under Captain Kivell, Lieutenants Rowson and Sol", turned out promptly and were successful in saving the promises of Mrs. Gorrie under very adverse circumstances. Five firemen and a few boys had to pull the engine through the i mud, saveral men refusing to give a hand. The Brig'.de wish to tender thoir hearty thanks to those citiz9cs who so nobly manned the pumps and stuck to them till all the dauger to Mrs. Gorrie'a premises was over. To their united endeavours Mrs. Gorria owes tha salvation of her place. We would also like to state that Mr. Gorrie, who is laid on a bed of sickness, would have had to ba removed, but the officers of the Brigade would not allow it, neither v«ould they permit any furniture to be shifted. The Brigade are to be complimented on the splendid manner they fought tho fire, taking into consideration that they h&d to pump thiough 800 f?et of hoe.«
