The Agent-General cabled from London ■ on August 10th: —" Average prices to-day were:—Canterbury mutton, RS4 : T>iinedinSouthlanrt, 3Jd; North Jmlu.ul, River Plate, 3 Jd; market quiet and there is an endeavo-ir amongst some holders to raise the prices of mutton. New Zealand lamb, Canterbury 4|d; other brands than Canterbury 4|d. There is a scarity of prime lamb. The market is oversupplied with heavy carcases. New Zealand beef, hind quarters, 3fd; forfs, 2§d; mirket dull. The supplies of River Plate bee I are increasing. The hemp market is very firm ; good fair Wellington , spot, L 26; September October. L 23 10s. [ tew Zealand cocksfoot, 171bs standard, 395; market quiet. The butter market is rising.
