THE HAIRDRESSERS DISPUTE. FHB FBESS ASSOCIATION. Chbistchubcb, August 12. The Arbitration Court made it* award in the dispute in the hairdressers trade. The minimum wage for journeymen Is fixed at £2 10s per week and the boars ef labour are to be 53 per week exclusive of meal times. The regulation of hours worked in each establishment is to be fixed by each employer according to the circumst*rc°B of his business. The day's work must end at 8 p.m. on four days in the week, at 1 p.m. on half-holidays and ten p.m. on Saturdays. Provision is made for on« hour off at meal times. The Court alfo made its award in the lithographic and letterpress printers dispute. Hours of labour are to be 48 per week between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on five days and from 8 a.m. to Boon cn recognised half-holidays subject to 48 hou-8 being considered full week, minimum wage for journeymen is £2 10s per week. The painters' dirpute was considered by the Arbitration Court to-day. Tbe union asks for t n shillings a day, but employers say they cannot afford to pay it. An award will be given be'ore the members of the Court leave Chris* - church. Three cases of enforcement of award were brought before the Christchurch Tailor*' Trade TJnion against three firms, aud are now occupying the attention of the Court. The Unionists demand Is 4|d per hour and week's work of 44 hours. Several minor points we r e settled at a conference.
