M. JEAN GERARDY.

To-night the music loving public of this district will hwa an opportunity of hearimg M. Je-in Gerardy, the ce'e brated 'cellist, whoso fame is world wide. From exchanges; we learn that his rccapiion throughout the colony has been exceptionally and wherever he has given a recital, the house has been packed with au eager crowd, who have listened with almost; breathless wonder to the rich tones of the magnificent instrument which ha manipulates with the unerring bend of a faultless trias-'er, Whether in the brilliant selections which exhibit hi 3 marvellous technique, or in sweet, tender, and pathetic melodies, tho young virtuoso ia he«rd to equal advantage, as to each mood he make* the 'cello respond in tones now sweet: and tende™, now loud and firm, but always beautifully smoo'h and rich. Such is the verdict which has been passed on his performance in other places, and therefore it is to he expected that at the Theatre Royal this evening, his reputation will be fully maintained, and that a groit treat is in store for tho audience. Already a large number of seats have been booifei ut the Dresden Piano Company's depot, and in view of the creditable growth ot musical culture in New Plymouth, it will be surprising if there is not a crowded house to listen to the famous artist.
