Both letter and speech have caused a tremendous sensation. The Liberals believe Lord Rosebory contemplates establishing a democratic Imprialiat tarty. At the Asquith banquet he made comparatively the same speech, being still under the influence of possible compromise, it was chiefly restricted to generalisations. He declared 'the Imperialists were able to hold their own equally easy inside or euteide the Liberal Party, which lecognised the Empira was worth living and dying for.
