Mr Mullen, (New Siu'h Walmi), declared tbe Goverament was seeking to build up a S'ate mompoly, and might compel cable u-era to pay i's exceuivo rate*. However, the Ltbourpa'ty supported th» Government. The Quteoslanders and Tasmania-is have join >d hands agiiost tbe Ewtern ext-enaion Fcheme. The amendment was negatived.
