PER PRESS ASSOCIATION, Wellington, May 30. Mr. Cameron, the Inspector if New Zealand dairy produce at Home, writing to the Agricultural Department on the 26th April, says the most aitiojabJe feiture of the butter market sicce his last report had been the sudden firming up ef prices for choicest NanZealand brands caus-d by a shortage of s applies and the pro'p 'Ct of a cessat : on 'of shipments from Australia. Up to the end oF the month large quantities of butter f;om Russia, mostly store-*, had arrived, and buyers wtre giving consid Table attention to if, us the price ru'ing f r it was much lower, about 94s per' cwt. for best quality.
New Zetland butter continued to come forward in go .d order and was still giving satisfaction to those buying it. Mr. Cameron empha'ical'y contradic's the t-tatement ma'?e by J. Kowin, of London, when ia Wellington, that there had not b>en any appreciable improvement in quality of this season's daiiy produce.
