The party was welcomed by Lod Hopeoun, Mr. Darlsy, State Hr- mior, ihn Mayor of N*wcasole and a large gahering of residents. The Mayoress piesented a beau'iful bouquet with gold and opil bolder, fiom the womn of ihe c ty, with streamer* boring " Many happy returns of the day," to-moiro* being the DucheM* birthday. 1200 children tbe ''National Anthun." The pity then ■irove through wildly enthusMstic crowds, the nu'-* \oing beautifully decorated, to the Newcastle station. En route 5000 children sang " Rule Brtanuii." . They rejoined tin train and "reach-d bridge at t-hrf o o'clock, and boirdei the saearoer General Oo'don which conveyed thetn 'o the Ophir, lying down the river. They stop theie quietly tomortew and c<me lo Sydney on Mord*y.
