Manure gave the best results in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 (tee page 170, Fifth Report uf Agricultural Department) : experiments made at Momahaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show ihat die but result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steamed bone dui*) and two-third* basto slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the beet remit, at a minimum cost, was from a (r.xture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.M K CVa "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.ii. £, Co. s No. 3 Mixture, the proportions ot»ng a little different. The former combination points o the fact, now generally recogknown as Thomas' Phosphate, has bean greatly under-estimated. The W.M.K. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate.
