BOERS MAKING FOR KERTILK COUNTRY PBU FRBSS ASSOCIATION. Received 24, 9.26 a.m. London, May 23. A blockhouse opened fire, causing a panic among forty Beers who were attempting to cross the railway lis* westward of Fan. A loaded waggon was captured. Vil joen's commando crosse J northwards, going from Rhenog'eikop to the bu?h veldt where food is plentiful. SEVERE ENGAGEMENT REPORTED. A NEW ZEALANDER KILLED. Received 26, 1.16 a.m. London, May 24. It is reported at Deiagoi Bay that a big fight took plxce on the 16th near Barbtr'on. There were 61 British caeualtie*. The Boere suffered heavily. The news is unconfirmed. The Boers killed Friva'o Archibald Woekey, of the New Zealand Rough Riders, while attempting to escape. Wellington, May 24. The Premier has received advice that 2659, Private A. Wookey (Canterbuiy section of the Fifth Contingent), was killed at Doornbutt.
