Note—The " M " Manare gave the best | results in proportion to cost oat of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1397 (see page 170, Fifth experiments made at Momohaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that ihe best result wa» obtained from a mixture of one-third ■turned bone dui*i and two-thirds basic lias (.Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the beet remit, at a minimum cost, was from a texture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.M E Co's «'M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M S. Co. ■ No. 1 Mixture, tbe proportions oeing a little different. The former combination points o the fact, now generally recognised, that the value of batic slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under-ertimated. The VV.M.E. Cc's No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of (Thomas' Phosphate.
