The women of Sydney are collecting funds to present tbe Duchess of York with a mirror in a frame mounted with gold, and with a monogram in Austratralian jewels. Received 9,1?.2G a.m. Melbourne, May 8. At one time the proceedings at the levee became a scrimmage mere suitable to a rugby match than a ballroom. Received 9, 0.1 G am. Melbourne, May 8. Royalty attended a largo reception given by tbe State Government. The Governor-General holds a brilliant reception this evening. It was anticipated that a number of Australians, who had titles conferred en them this year, would hive been invested with thtir orders at the levee yesterday, but thacer<>mo'>y was postponed owing to a cable received that as other honours are to be conferred there should be one invi stiture.
