NEW PLYMOUTH TOWN COMMITTEE.

Tub unnnil mee'ing of householders of >, New Plymonfea was h?ld on M< nday evening at the Towu Hall. There was cot a large attendance. Mr. N. K. MaoDiarmid was voted fo the chair. | Tha report of the outgoing committee (<i precis of which has already bean published) was read. Mr. C'llis explained that since 31st March, at which da'o the balance sheet was made up, payments had bees authorised which reduced the balance from £lO 12s to about XI.

The report was adopted. Mr. Collia explained teat owing to the action of the Education Board in suggesting tbat the Committee should see if its clerical work could not be done at a lower rite, applications had been oiled for the post of Secretary. The old Committee bad decided that as tbe Secretary had beenapoointed for a year it would be wise to hold over tbe app'ications received until the new Committee was elected. He them handed tbe applications to the Chair- | man.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded: to the outgoing Committee. Mr C. E. Belli inger asked if tha funds would be sufficient for the Committee to carry on during the coming year ? Mr Collis said tbat the money to bo j allocated might Bathes for cleaning and fuel, but would leave rothing for incidental expenses. Mr. Collis said tbat it would bo necessary to approach tha Board on the waster.

Votrg of thanks wero accorded to Mr. Dempsey and his staff for tho successful conduct of the school, and to Miot Shaw for her long tervices in tho schools.

The feeder of Soruusen and Chrittensen for removal of nightsoil, at £iS per annum, was accepted. It was decided to meet on the third) Monday in each month at 7.30 p.m., at the Bireugh Chambers. I Messrs Murray and F. White were appointed a visiting Committee, and the moating adjourned.
