SPECIAL MIXTURES oan be made at any time to suit farmers. Note—The " M " Manare gave the best results in proportion to cost ont of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) : The experiments made at Momohaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that the BIBT result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steamed bone duit and two-thirds basic slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the best result, at a minimum coßt, was from a ir.xture of one-third Lawes* Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.M E Co's "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M £. Co. s No. 3 Mixture, the proportions Ming a little different. The former combination points o the faot, now generally recognised, that the value of ba»io slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under-estimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of the report of Mr, GillanderSy the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, which will be found in the Seventh Report of the Department, of Agriculture, wonld amply repay any farmer who finds a difficulty in vel#oting,t,he most suitable manures
