The Taranaki Rifles held their post- j poued inspection parade last night. Captain Okey, Lieuts. Cock and Ilooker, Chaplain Evans, and 41 rank and file were present. Col.-Sorgt. Phillips of the Wanganui Highland Rifles was also on parade, The corps were exercised in company movemeats by the officers and in rifle exorcists by Sergtv. Lever and Armitage. The various committees met after paracle. The final competition for the gold medal will take place on Thursday and Saturday next. A resolution was passed nem am that, with the consent of the Defence Department', Lieut. Cock be sunt to represent the Company at the opening 'of the Federal Parliament. Litut. Cock first joined the Company in 1863.] While considering the question of 1 celebrating the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Tnranaki Rifles it was suddenly discovered tliat the correct date was March 25th. However, although the proper day has passed, the Committee in charge are malting arrangements which will be notified I when complete, [ The Northern Boot Company (Auckland) have offered a pair of hoots as a prize for a handicap competition of 10 shots at 500 and 600 yards. This has bean accepted with thanks, and the prize will be shot for oa the 2nd and 4th of May.

Regulations for the competition for the clock presented by the N.Z. Clothing Factory have been settled. There will be six matches, five to count, and attendance at parades during the competition will count one point.
