DROWNING FATALITY AT WAITARA.
On Sunday afternoon a sad drowning fatality occurred at Waitur.i, whereby Mr and Mrs Richard White lost their only little boy. It appears that the litilo fellow, who is only between 6 and 7 years of age, was fiiidnj; from tho freezing works wharf alonj; with some other children, and euddonly fell inlo the river. One of liia companions had the sense to throw a rope to him and t > shout n direction to eitch hold of it, but without avail. A'arnj was immediately given and one of the employers ut th<3 works was quickly on the spat, but the child could not bo moea and the boay was not recovered till about haif-an-hom- afterwards when life was extinct. The greatest sympathy is felt for tho parents in their distressing bereavement, especially for Mrs White, who was completely prostrated by th@ blow. Mr White is in charge of Burgess Frasar and Coi.'sstoreatWaitara, and both parent's are well-known and highly respected both at Waitara and New Plymouth. An inquest was held by the Coroner, Mr R. L, Stanford, and a verdict i"-! turned in conformity with the above! facts. The fnn«ral takes place on I Tuesday. j
