PROPOSED NEW COUNTY.

A mbstis*; vras held at Opnnake on Monday to consider the question of forming a new Cjonty. Mr. M. J. Brennas presided. After dijcnasion (the Opnnake Times reports) the following resolutions ware carried:—

Mr. Lambie moved that it is detirable that stsps be taken to form a new county with Opnnake aa a centre and that a committee be formed to give effect to this resolution, Seconded by Mr. 0. McHardy, and carried.

Mr. Maxwell moved tbat the following be a committee with power to add to their Dumber, to take the necessary steps far the formation of a ■ew country:—Messra J. Stevenson, B. Lambie, S. Forsyth, J. Conaglen, J. Henson, A. Cross, S. Campbell, R. Henaoß, H. S. Briant, J. McKenzis, 0. B. Bryce, M. J. Brennau M. Eraser, J. Qny, Geo. Tindle, C. MaHardy, J. MoDavitt, D. McGregor. J. Dudley, W. C. Dudley, B. Chine, J. Macfie, L. Qilmfr, D. Lnak, J. C. O'Rorke, 0. Langton, J. Young. T. McGlois, W. B. Bight, J. Lenjj, F. W. Frethey, J. Bothery, M. J. MaeReynolds, B. B. E. Layard, and B. Maxwell. Seconded by Mr. J. Conaglen and carried. Mr. Moore moved tbat legislation be promoted this coming session of Parliament to relißvej,this part of the New Pljmoath Harbour Bating District from the payment of rate on any additional loin. Seconded by Mr.

Guy and carried, seven voting for it and five egainst. j Subsequently a meeting of the 1 general tommittee was held and Mr. 0. MoHardy was appointed Chairman, Mr. J. McD»vitt secre'ary, and Mr. M. Frssor, treasurer. Sub-comrai&tees vera arranged as well as provision j made for eircnlating petitions, &■•■
