I (From Our Own Correspondent). f His Excellency tbo Governor, who during his shy in Urenui, has been the guest of Mrs Halcombe, on Monday visited the district school. After having sean the pupils at work and haAing complimented the master upon their apparent tfficiency, Lord Run.furly delivered an address—reminding the boys and girls that they were units of a great Empire, and aa such should endeavour to become good citizens. The National Anthem and other songs were sung by the scholars, who after giving three cheers, were dismissed for the remainder of the day, in honour of the visit of the vice-regal party. Messrs. Wylie and Stott's fortnightly silos continue to be well attended. The entries are large and good prices are ruling. A< of Waikato bred horses has been the most recent attraction. The local sports take place on Thursday 20th inst. and as good fields bavo , entered patrons may expect a good time. In the evening a bill will be held in the Town Kail, Rud judging by the preparations, lovers of dancing ! should enjoy themselves. ' The census man ig on the war path and must have had a treat in distributing his " blue p»pe,r" in such atrocious , weather. The Urenui second eleven en Saturdefeated Waihi by seven wickets. Waihi's poor attempt with the bat in the first innings (8 all oat), was no doubt the cause of their downfall}
