THE CITY BAND PRIZES.
i TO THE EDITOR. j Sir, —I was pleased to notice in this morning's issue a letter Ri'gned by Citizen referring to the prizes won at
the City Band Sports, being presented at the Imperial Now as a mother I wuh to encourage a taste for music in our boys, also a taste for manly sports, but I decidedly object to taking the boyj to an hotel to receive the priz-; money, Surely the managers of the City Band could find a more suitable place for an occasion of this kind without cau-iug any uneasiness to the parents who are tryicg to guard their boys ag >iust the evils attending thefraquenting of hotels. We as mothers appreciate) the Band's efforts to provide the public with music and have cootrib'lttd our mite towards their funds. Trusting that the Bind will not for the future place such a temptation in the way of our boys but afs'st us in our en- j , deavour.3 to establish a sober manhood in this fair colony tf ours.—l am, &c., ; A Mother, i New Plymouth, 7th March, 1901.
