Miss J. Macintosh was appointed to Midhirsf, and Mrs. Putt as sewing teacher at Koru, Mr. D. Miss Shaw, late teicher at the West Infant School, applied for jaymMit of sa'ary up to the date mention' d in her la'ter of resignation (January 31st) fih' having been paid only up to the 27th. Mr. Allsworth moved Ih;t Mss Shaw be paid up to January 31st. Mr. Wade seconded the motion and considerable discussion ensued. Eventually an amendment was moved to the efleot that Mis* Shaw having bean paid up to the dale of her rtsigning no further piytmnt be mad:). On a division the amendment wai carried, Messrs. Allswertb and Wa'ie being tt e dissentients. Mr. P. S, Whitcomba was appoin ed auditor of school committees' tccoun s for 1901. j A letter was read from 11 iss Campbell, M. A, and Mr. J. Boyle, M.A, of the Stratford District High Sshool, stating that several ycung teacherwould be glad of tho opportunity of attending Saturday olatses and that the writers were willing to establish those clashes to cover the work for the C and D certificates if the Board approved and a sufficient number cf pupils presented tbems.lves. They proposed the class.s shouid ba held for two hour* in tho morning and the same in the afternoon, the charge to be 2 guineas for D ehss and 3 guineis forC class. The Inspector cerdhlly approved the proposal and suggested thatappl ction should be made for fi eo railway paste for s'-udents attending the classes, It was decided on the motion of Mr. Hignett, seconded by Mr. Faull, tha' consent ba given and that the Secretary be authorised to certify that teachers attending suoh clashes are entitled to any granted by tho Railway Department. It was also decided on the motion of Mr. Mackay, seoonded by Mr. Allsworth, that a copy of the above resolution be sent to the Minister and tha* ho be asked to grant, if possible, free railway pa«seg.
