CHRISTCHURCH R.C. CATHEDRAL.
[PBU PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, February 10. Arohbi-hops Carr (Melbourne), Redwood (Wellington), Bishop Vardon, (Dunedin), and a large number of visiting B.C. clergy, who huve arrived to as-ist in laying the foundation stone of the new Cathedral, was accorded an enthu-iastic welcome at the railway station lift night, and headei by the bwss b uid and the Hibernians, marched to the presbytery. In the pro-Oathf-dral im address of welcome was presented to. the visiting Prelatrg. To-day a gre.it crowd »was at the c9iemony of blessing and laying 'the stme. Ii was a mo.t impressive ceremony, and cairied out with all pomp. Archbishop Redwood pleached in the pro-Ca'hedral in the morning and Awhoiahop Oarr in the evening. The umount laid on the foundation stone was nearly £2,000.
