CHARGE AGAINST AN INSURANCE AGENT.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, February 1. Walter M. Phillips, formerly general manager in New Zealand for the Imperial Insurance Company, was charged to day with having stolen £405 Is. bslongimg to the Company, and with forging the signature of W. J. Wilkins to the receipt for £405 and to the 1 proposal for the insurance. Accused on being challongpd admitted the claiin was bogu«, but said tho mon»y had not gone into his pocket but had been used in settling outstanding balances that, existed when he tc ok charge of office.
