We again draw attention to the Daily News not being published on Saturday, and to the issue of the Wisely Npws on Friday. Tho Town Band has kindly consented to inarch the members of the friendly Societies to the Recreation Grounds on Saturday next Fierce fighting has taken place in Venezuela. A hurricane demolished the staffs bearing the Royal Standard on the Houses of Parliament and at Windsor Castle. A few small ve«»eli were wrecked and were attended with fatalities on the coast. The Dnnodin Conciliation Board has been hearing a dispute between the Metal Workers and Employers. A deciiion will i}B given on Monday. Arrangements are well in hand for tho Band Contest to be held at Wanganui in March. Twelve bands are entered. The entries for the solo competitions are larger I than ever previously received, totalling 80; including 15 B flat cornet and a similar numI ber for the horn nolo. At the Conference of Builders at Chrisfc- . church tho OommittSe recommended the establishment of a Federated Builders and Contractors Association. The questions of opening tenders in the presence of tenderers, and securing the safety of deposit money were discussed and referred to the F&chsral ! Council. A resolution was passed that no Government paid member be on Conciliation Boards except the chairman, and that each i party to a dispute eleet its own representative.
