As anticipated, there wu a large crowd at the Theatre Royal on Monday erasing to hear Mr. Peterson recount his experiences of the war in South Africa. So gva.% was the crowd in the body of the hall that some persons had to be refused Admission, although there weie saveral vacant saats in the dress circle, j The lecturer kept his audience interwised, amusod, and, at times, somewhat astonished at some of the "yarns" that were told, and which many present received with the proverbial grain of salt, Yet tbore was a certain attractive charm about much of the reojtal, and, net dies* to say, each reference to Lord Roberts' tactical akill and magnetic influence ou the men was received with much applause. there were some excellent word pic-! tures, but, on the whole, the lecture' was rather disappointing. I
