DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency report through Messrs. Mathie and Mo William, their Glasgow agents, as follows under date Glasgow, October 18. BUTTER. We have to report a better tone in all our markets since our last advices, and prices have now become firmer and have still an upward tendency. Choicest Danish, Dutch, and Irish creameries are experiencing a good demand, and the weekly supplies are quiokly cleared. The supply of milk to our local creameries is now falling off rapidly, and, the nuke ef butter is consequently very much curtailed. Canadian creamery experiences a very dragging sale and holders are now more anxious to meet buyers and thus effect a clearance of their stocks, especially at colonial butters are arriving in larger quantities and being freely offered in all our markets. Uhoicest brands of new seasons Australian butters are meeting a good enquiry and sellers are firm in their ideas of prices; but stared parcels are difficult of .sale, more especially as many of the brands show loss of bloom and a tendency to greaeiaess through the effects of long freezing. Secondary butters, though in short supply, are quite neglected and are pressed for sale at prices which favour buyers. The Copenhagen quota- j tion which has risen six kronen per cwt. during the past two weeks is reported this week three kroner* up. I'ho weather which recently has been very wet and stormy is now dry and mnch colder and should have a stimulating effdct on the butter markets generally. This week's prices:—Choicest Danish, 116 ito 118s ; Dutch, 109b to HOj; Irish Creamery, 108itoll0j; tfow Colonial, 108s to 110s; Canadian, 102 a to 104s. C'UEKSE. The markers all over show an improved tjne, and prices are firmly held. Stocksjin all hands are moderately light and a steady consumption is going m. There are good prospicts for the opening of the New Zealand cheese season, and the first arrivals are sure to meet a good market and command satisfactory price*. The Kilmarnock Dtiry Produce Show is taking placs this weak, and as this is the principle Sottish cheese show of the season, buyors usually are enabled to form an opiuion of the future course of prices and the quantify of stock held in farmers hands. At the resent Agricultural Show held in London, the first prize for an exhibit of Cheddar cheese was gained by Scotland, the cheese having been made in Ayrshire. They wero soli at Is per lb. T sis week's prices,—Finest Scotch cheddars, 65s to 695; fiuest Scotuh dunlops, 58s to 635; finest Ointdian, September, white and ciloired, 56s to 575; finest Canadian, August, white and coloured, 54s to 555. CANNED UtATS. A steady consumptive demand is experienced, and stoeks are still very light. Colonel corned mutton has shown further advance in prices, and it in active request, Compressed beef meets a steady demand and prices are without material change. Lunch and ox tongues of choicest puality and perfect cure are scarce and much wanted. Boiled rabbits, in 21b. tins, are the cheapest article on the market at present, and considerable attention is being given them at prices of 7s 6J to 7a 9d per dozen. Colonial corned mutton, in 61b. rouud tins, is worth 36s to 38s per dozm, and has still an upward teadenoy. Beef is quotsd at 30s to 34s for 6's, accord - , ing to quality and reputation of the brands.
