NORTH EGMONT BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.

A meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, Present: Messrs. Strauahon (chairman), F. L. Webster, Dockrill, Stock, aad MaoDiarmid.

Plans and specifications prepared by Mr. Stock for the cottage to be erected on the mountain were considered, together with tenders for same from R. W. Bond, £l3O, and Geo. Turner, £ll4. The latter was accepted, a condition being that the work was to be completed by December 20th. The Chairman was authorised to arrange with the contractor for an alteration of the roof if found necessary. It was arranged that the members should visit the reserve on the 15th inst, to fix the site for the cottage. A request by the South and East Egmont Forest Boards, that the Board should join them in inviting the Governor to visit the .mountain in March, could not be entertained, owing to the faot that, under the Egmont National Park Bill, the Board will cease to exist" on January 31st. '

Mr. Stock was authorised to epen the Mountain House on December 20th, or earlier if need be, and take an inventory of the furniture and hand same over to the caretaker. An aocount of £4 7s Id for work done by J. Williams in cleaning and deeping drains andwater tables from the radius, line to the two-mile peg was passed, the Road Inspector, Mr. Stanners,' haying certified the completion'of the work,' Mr. Stanners reported that the new' metalling done last summer was in good order, and had stood the traffic well. From the end of the metal tS tho radius line the road was in a very bad state, being very much cnt up and almost impassable for wheel traffic. From thiat point to the two-mile peg the road was in good order, all the water channels aoting and the road formation being entire. He stated that a buggy could safely and comfortably be taken up at the present time,
