A man, Edward Edwards, 28 years old, made a deliberate attempt to cut his wife's throat with a razor, and then cut his own throat from ear to ear. His wife escaped and sought refuge in the houso of a neighbour. Dr. Fitzgerald Bays the woman's wound is serious, but hope for recovery. Edwards worked in the Castle Hill coal mine yesterday, when his mates thought him unusually eccentric. He has been acting very strange for about a fortnight, lie would not take any food prepared by his wife, fearing she tried to poison him. Dumom, Norember 4. Mrs. Edwards, who was attacked by her husband at Kaitangata, wm operated on on Saturday. Her throat, which waa completely serered above the larynx (the gullet also being opened), was stitched up. While she is in a very dangerous condition she ii bsliored to have made some progress since the operation. The husband, who committed suicide after the attack, appear* to hare indulged in a drinking bout on Labaur Day, and has been queer ainoe., He appeared to hare an idea that some one was going to shoot him.
